A few fuzzy infomercials

Since Bennett and I will be moving to Texas right after the semester is over, we decided we wouldn't hassle with setting up cable on our TV for a few months. I can survive a semester with no cable, right? I didn't watch TV on my mission and was just fine. The first few weeks of the semester I was pretty busy and didn't really notice. But then, the pregnancy set in and I found my self wanting to watch something to distract myself from the nausea. I have seen our small collection of movies almost twice through now, and am starting to feel quite deprived. What's a girl to do? Well, the good news is that although we did not PAY for cable, we do have fuzzy reception for 5 channels! One of them even gets a few good re-runs in the evening like Friends and Wheel of Fortune. It is the daytime TV that kills me. I have reduced myself to watching INFOMERCIALS and ads for exercise videos. I have made a mental note of products that I really want to get when I have the money someday. How embarassing. On a few lucky days we get a clear picture of the channel ABC. Whenever I turn on the TV expecting infomercials or 2 spanish channels, I hold my breath as I pass channel 4 hoping it will work. Most days, it doesn't. One lazy Saturday morning I almost screamed with delight when channel 4 was working and showing morning cartoons!! Pure bliss. However, cartoons were mostly over and the "older kid" shows were starting. It was the new Power Rangers RPM. Normally I would be utterly disappointedand immediately change the channel, but I couldn't resist watching a perfectly clear television channel. I was mesmerized. Bennett soon joined me and we spent a full hour lowering our IQ's. How shameful. This, my dear friends and family, is why Jenna Larsen has gone crazy. When we arrive at our new apartment in Texas, the cable man is the FIRST person I will be calling to save me from insanity.

A small plum

This is the size of our baby right now (10 weeks) according to the book I am reading...probably closer to the little one on the left. The runt of the bushel.

So far things have been progessing well, except for the fact that the couch, bed, and toilet have become my new best friends. I am one of the lucky pregnant women that get not just MORNING sickness, but ALL DAY sickness. Zofran (nausea medication) has become my saving grace!!! Too bad there is no medication for throwing up. Poor Bennett...hopefully he only has to suffer for a few more weeks of my complaining and continual vomiting. He has been SOOO good and helpful and VERY patient. He tells me everyday that the baby is getting a little spank when it comes out for making me so sick! :) Hehehe. I am not showing yet (haven't gained any weight yet), but when I do I will be sure to post some pictures of the growing tummy!

Pirate Cobras

So on my mission I served in Cheney Washington for 10 months. I LOVED it there and have some incredible memories. Cheney is a tiny college town, but is home to a spectacular bowling alley. A member of the church owns this magnificent playland, and would let the missionaries bowl here EVERY p-day as long as we wanted...and gave us free pizza! It became a weekly tradition for the missionaries in the area to gather together and display their incredible bowling techniques. We were even cool enough to make up a team name...Pirate Cobras. Where this came from, no one knows. Yet the name became known 'round our inner missionary circle. As one elder stated, we were "an unstoppable league of elite bowlers". We even had a chant...if you have seen the movie Dodgeball, it was similar to the chant the "purple cobras" used. Yep, I know, this is making me sound even cooler than I already am. Recently, a group of missionaries in the Provo area got together for a bowling reunion. It was an intense night of Pirate Cobra bowling action. Below are pictures of some of the members over the years...

The original Pirate Cobra gang...I am attempting to look ghetto representing my "mid-west" pride. Notice my companion and I are wearing our SKIRTS bowling. Yeah, we are cool.

This was taken recently as our team joined forces 2 1/2 years later. We added some new members. Bennett was kind enough to be the photographer.
